St Andrew's C of E Primary School

World Book Day

On Friday 3rd March we celebrated World Book Day in school. Children and staff were able to dress up as a book character or come to school wearing their pyjamas. In our Celebration Assembly, we celebrated the Reading Champions for the week and enjoyed looking at the fantastic effort that had been made in preparing the costumes.

There were lots of different reading-related activities hapening around school, including Year 5 children reading excellent pop-up books, which they had made in DT lessons, to children in Year 1.

After school, the PTA held a book sale on the playground. There was lots of excitement from children looking through the books on offer!

World Book Day 2023

Year 5 World Book Day

In DT, Year 5 have been making pop-up books based on fairy tales and nursery rhymes. Their target audience was Year 1 children so on World Book Day 5CC took their books down to 1GF and read their books to the Year 1 children. It was a fun, confidence building activity for 5CC and all the Year 1 children really enjoyed the books. A fantastic and enjoyable activity to promote reading on World Book Day.
