School Meals
The food served in the school dinner hall is made on the premises by experienced staff. It provides a balanced healthy meal for children. Food should be ordered in advance via School Hub (details below).
Children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 receive a FREE school meal. Other children may be eligible beyond Year 2: please look at the criteria below and contact the school office if you have any doubt. It is important for families and for the school to apply for Free School Meal if they meet the criteria: this enables the school to receive extra funding to support pupils from disadvantaged background (Pupil Premium). Find below more information about the free school meals criteria.
School Hub
School hub allows you to choose meals up to two weeks in advance and view your children’s choices with full nutritional breakdowns of every meal available at the click of a button.
If your child has any food allergies or specific dietary requirements, parents must inform the school and ensure they are detailed on the School Hub system.
Children order school meals when they arrive at school. Alternatively, you can order the meal via your child’s ‘School Hub’ Account by 9:30am each day at the latest.
If you think you may be entitled to free school meals then please contact the school office.
A guide on how to use School Hub can be found below.
Free School Meals
If your child is in the Reception Class, Year 1 or Year 2 they will receive a FREE school meal. Older children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 pay for their meal.
Some children are eligible for a free school meal, as outlined below:
Is your child eligible for a free school meal?
Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:
- Income Support
- income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
Children who get paid these benefits directly, instead of through a parent or guardian, can also get free school meals.
Your child may also get free school meals if you get any of these benefits and your child is both:
- younger than the compulsory age for starting school
- in full-time education
If your child is eligible for free school meals, they’ll remain eligible until they finish the phase of schooling (primary or secondary) they’re in on 31 March.
To find out more please contact the school.
